Rules of Conduct

These rules and conditions apply to all attendees of the convention.

Content

NordicFuzzCon likes to present itself as a professional convention of friendly, respectful, and open-minded members of the furry community and their friends. To avoid any misunderstandings about what kind of behaviour is generally acceptable at an event like NordicFuzzCon, all attendees are expected to follow these rules. Please make sure that you read and understand them. These rules are in effect during the entire convention time, including possible early arrival and late departure days. If you have any questions about anything in these rules, please contact Security ([email protected]) prior to the convention.

General

  • Appropriate behaviour is expected at all times.
  • Please treat others respectfully.
  • You are liable for any damage you may cause to the property of another attendee or to property of the hotels, venues, or convention spaces.
  • Convention space(s) is defined as any space used for NordicFuzzCon programming and operations plus any areas inside the badge check zones.
  • Hotel(s) is defined as any hotel space rented by the convention. Hotel rooms are the attendees’ private spaces.
  • Always follow the directions of convention staff
  • We do not tolerate harassment of any kind.
  • Any action or behaviour that causes significant interference with convention operations, excessive discomfort to other attendees, or adversely affects NordicFuzzCon’s relationship with its guests, its venues, its partners, or the public is forbidden.

General Behaviour

  • At NordicFuzzCon, we have a policy of “YES means YES”: do not pursue other people sexually or otherwise unless you have unambiguous consent from them. A fursuit is not consent. Moreover, NO means NO: if someone asks you to stop, then STOP. If you are asked to leave them alone, then LEAVE. There is NO discussion.
  • If you are not certain if somebody wants to be hugged, tackled, pounced, or have any other physical contact, please ask the person first.
  • NordicFuzzCon Security reserves the right to ask any attendee to improve the hygiene of themself or any of their possessions.
  • You are expected to treat hotel rooms and hotel property reasonably and with care. You will be held personally liable for any damage you cause. If you have your “do not disturb” sign on your door, housekeeping might not clean and service your room.
  • You are required to ask your roommates for permission before running a room party or inviting guests.
  • NordicFuzzCon Security reserves the right to remove any QR codes from any places in the convention space for any reason.
  • Stickers may only be placed on designated surfaces. Stickers may not be placed on city, venue, or hotel property.
  • You may not disturb people in any other hotel rooms. Please keep the noise down during the quiet hours and adhere to the rules posted for your room category (for instance normal, buffer, or quiet rooms).
    • Regular rooms - After 00:00, doors must be closed, and no noise is allowed in the hallway
    • Buffer rooms - After 22:00, no room parties, music, or noise in the hallways.
    • Quiet rooms - No music, room parties, or noise in the hallways at any time.
  • NordicFuzzCon reserves the right to use camera monitoring of convention spaces (including fursuit lounges) and areas rented by the convention to maintain safety.
  • Personal audio systems (e.g., Bluetooth speakers) must be kept at a courteous volume at all times. If anyone complains about noise levels from your device, you must either lower the volume, switch it off, or move to a place where no one is bothered.

General Hotel Rules

  • The consumption of food or drinks purchased from outside of the convention hotels is not permitted, except in private hotel rooms.
  • For the safety and enjoyment of all hotel guests, reckless or disruptive behaviour is not permitted.
  • Attendees may not enter the service areas of the hotels or restricted convention areas. This includes all backstage areas, service elevators, the rooftops, emergency exits, and all areas marked as “Staff Only”.
  • Tampering with any fire-protection devices – including abusive triggering of fire doors or alarms – is prohibited and might result in expulsion and/or fines by the hotel.. The same goes for disabling smoke detectors, or propping fire doors open
  • Walking barefoot is not allowed in hotels and convention spaces.
  • Printed items such as posters, flyers, business cards, stickers, etc. not from NordicFuzzCon must be confined to clearly marked locations designated by the convention. Anything found outside of these marked locations will be trashed on sight. Door signs are welcome but must be taken down before checking out.
  • Do not deliberately crack open glow sticks or similar items, i.e., anything containing dyeing, sticky, glitter, or corrosive material.
  • Smoking and vaping (e.g., electronic cigarettes) are not permitted at NordicFuzzCon, including inside hotel rooms. A considerable cleaning fee can be charged for smoking or vaping in contravention of these rules.
  • Staying overnight in convention hotels without a valid hotel booking is not allowed.
  • Ghosting is defined as: when a person stays overnight in a room at a convention hotel they are not registered for. Do not ghost and do not let others ghost in your room. Any person involved in this may be expelled from the convention and face penalties from the hotel.

Registration

  • You must be at least 18 years old for the entire time you attend the convention.
  • NordicFuzzCon is a private event. Only registered attendees with a valid, official convention badge from the current year may enter convention spaces. Exceptions might be made by NordicFuzzCon.
  • You are required to wear your convention badge visibly at all times, also when fursuiting, so that you can be identified as an attendee of the convention.
  • Assisting someone to attend NordicFuzzCon without their own valid badge or impersonating another attendee by using their convention badge is grounds for expulsion from the convention for all parties involved.
  • You may not impersonate official convention roles, communications, or announcements.
  • Changing or covering up identifying information on your badge is not allowed.
  • If you have been expelled, your con badge may or may not be returned to you after the convention.
  • The NordicFuzzCon Board may permit an attendee to bring children (age 3 or younger). The attendee will be asked to sign a waiver as the legal guardian for the child/children.

Pets and Animals

  • The only pets allowed at NordicFuzzCon are dogs and they must be approved no later than one (1) month prior to the convention by NordicFuzzCon Security.
  • Not all NordicFuzzCon hotels accept animals. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] during your registration process so that we can do our best to accommodate your wishes.
  • Anyone who brings a dog must respond to any questions they receive from NordicFuzzCon registration and/or security.
  • Upon arrival, you must present your dog to registration to have it registered on site. If there are any issues regarding your dog, security may ask you to remove your animal from premises temporarily or permanently at any time.
  • Dogs are allowed in most public areas of the convention, but not in event spaces, near food, or in non-designated hotel rooms and hallways. If you disregard this rule, you might have to pay a considerable extra cleaning fee.
  • Even for designated hotel rooms, dogs can only be brought into the room with the express approval of all persons staying in the room.
  • Having a dog stay in your room will incur cleaning fees.
  • Service animals are exempted from the pets policy. However, anybody bringing a service animal is still required to contact registration, so that we can properly accommodate their needs.

Fursuiting

  • Your health matters most. If there is a medical emergency or risk thereof, please remove your fursuit as soon as possible, no matter when or where you are. If needed, contact the Medicurity Hotline.
  • Help us make the convention awesome by not ruining the magic! When wearing a full body suit or a “¾ suit” or a “half suit”, please keep your head and costume on in public areas and corridors. Headless zones and other areas exempt from this rule will be marked. Audience members of stage events are also exempted. Please see Appendix A for a reference image.
  • If you need to take off your head and parts temporarily to adjust your fursuit, please visit the fursuit lounge, headless area, or find a secluded location to adjust it.
  • The fursuit lounge and headless zones are intended for use by fursuiters. Please respect this and stay out if you are not a fursuiter or a handler.
  • Treat fursuiters carefully, in order not to damage the fursuit or the person inside of it.
  • You are the only person responsible for the safe keeping of your fursuit and your belongings. The fursuit lounge and headless lounge are not watched or guarded spaces.

Clothing and Decency

Please keep in mind that your behaviour reflects on the fandom as a whole. All convention exclusive areas and daytime convention programming are considered to be Safe for General Audiences at all times unless otherwise specified. Some events may be rated either Mature or Adult. Such events may feature mature topics and will be properly marked on our schedule and on site. Events occuring after 21:00 may be Mature. The definitions for Mature and Adult will be presented in the NFC 2025 Relaxed Dress Code.

  • A "relaxed dress code" may be used for certain events and will be communicated at least two (2) months prior to the convention.
  • When in public areas of the hotels and convention areas, attendees may not wear clothing or accessories which are overly revealing, inappropriate to the atmosphere of the convention (such as pup hoods), the hotel image, or likely to draw reasonable complaints or offence.
  • Wearing costumes, accessories, or displaying items made out of real fur is not allowed.
  • Anatomically correct costumes, furry or otherwise, must be clothed as above.
  • Sexual behaviour that goes beyond a mere display of affection is not allowed in public.
