Charity - Dýrahjálp
NordicFuzzCon is proud to present our 2025 charity Dýrahjálp. Founded in 2008 this animal shelter was one of the first shelters of its kind in Iceland, and up to this day they are devoted to their mission to find a new forever home for homeless animals. It remains one of the few places of hope for our fuzzy friends who are down on their luck in the entire country of Iceland.
Today they are the largest animal rescue in their entire country, not just providing help to individuals with their pets, but also to many communities all over Iceland they remain their prime resource for anything pet or vet related.
This has not come easy. Ever since their inception in 2008, they have worked hard to become a trusted source. Thanks to their devoted volunteers they have managed to reach this goal and without any government funding, as they were only concerned with the wellbeing of the animals in question.
While they did sometimes receive temporary funds, Dýrahjálp still relies on their volunteers and fundraisers. This to make sure their core values remain focused on sheltering animals and helping those in need.
Their independence also allows Dýrahjálp to help in welfare cases in ‘grey areas’, where it is uncertain who is responsible for the welfare of the affected animals. To make sure all in need receive help without question.
We of NordicFuzzCon are proud to help such a noble cause, to make sure all dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and other small animals have a ray of hope in a dire situation.
