Tips:

  • Know how you want your art to be presented. Artworks are usually placed as: full page spread, two page spread, half page spread (vertical or horizontal), or page decorations.
  • Having a version with background, without background or characters on separate layers will make your work more versatile to use.
  • You don't have to go big or go home, conbook artwork range from full page spreads to small page icons.
  • If black is a primary colour in the art, avoid using pure black (C:0, M:0, Y:0, K:100): use rich black instead (C:20, M:0, Y:0, K:100).
  • Think about white space. Artwork can be used to put text in/on.

Conbook FAQ

What should my art be?

All submissions should reflect the convention's theme, which this year is: “Toy Town”.

Does my artwork have to feature Mausie and/or Iris?

Submissions do not have to feature Mausie or Iris, it can be your own fursona or a friend’s.

How should I draw Mausie and/or Iris?

You can draw them any way you like, you can find Mausie’s reference sheet here and Iris’ reference sheet here.

Can I submit something other than artwork such as photographs or a story?

Yes, with some caveats. For photographs, we ask that it is a photo that you have taken yourself and the subject in the photo has given consent for the photo to be used. For stories, it is limited to short stories with a maximum of 1,200 word count.

Can I submit more than one piece?

Yes, please do!

When is the deadline for submissions?

It will be announced in the future on here and our social media.

Do I have to attend the convention to submit art for the conbook?

Nope! While we certainly would love for you to attend, it's not a prerequisite for contributing to the conbook.

Do you accept “yiffy” art?

We do not accept outright erotic art. Tasteful nudity might be accepted. Send us an e-mail if you are unsure about a particular piece of art.

Do you accept violent art?

Playful cartoon violence is fine, but more graphic and realistic gore is not.

Can I submit my artwork to other sections of the convention such as theming?

Yes and other departments will be happy to!. We may also use your artwork for other things such as the mobile app if it’s suitable.

Am I free to post my submitted artwork elsewhere?

Yes, you can post your work! You don’t have to wait till the convention starts, let people know that you are contributing to the convention.

What decides whether or not my submission will be used?

There are a number of factors which decide what we end up using, such as: the quality, how well it fits with the theme, our layout, how soon we get it, and how many other arts we received. If your artwork does not get printed, we hope it won't discourage you from trying again next year!

When will I know if my artwork will be used?

The conbook will be in a state of flux up until a few weeks before the convention, so we can't give any exact date on when we know for certain whether or not a piece will be used.

I have more questions! What should I do?

Please send them to [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we're able.
